As our way of saying "Thank You!" for joining our "18/18/18" Campaign, please accept this free CD recording of our "Conversation Concert" from June, 2017. Recorded live, this performance of Bach's "Christ lag in Todesbanden," BWV 4, features The Advent Project with soloists Kerry Holahan, soprano, Sonya Knussen, mezzo-soprano, Jason Rylander, tenor, and Will Heim, bass.
"The text of this cantata, by Martin Luther himself, was a theological discourse on the believer's power over death. Bach was thoroughly acquainted with death, even as a young man. By the age of 10 he had lost both parents, and was accustomed to living in the aftermath of the 30 Years War. His deep understanding of Martin Luther's text, and his amazing compositional abilities, even at the age of 22 years old, never cease to inspire. This cantata, more than 300 years old, never grows old."
-Richard Allen Roe, Artistic Director
